ABOUT DRACUME THEATRE
Dracume theatre has gone on an incredible journey, it started with two students talking about how impossible it felt to finds success in the theatre, how it felt as though the stories they wanted to tell felt out of place in the theatre industry.
4 years later Dracume has become one of the fastest growing new writing companies in Scotland. Managing in our short history to stage 20 new plays, provide over 100 emerging theatre makers with invaluable experience, development and connections and have built the foundations of an evolving creative community.

To talk to audiences and understand how we can best serve them.
To take bold risks on exciting and overlooked projects backed up by our creative community.
Fairness and Respect
A fair theatre is the only kind we are interested in building and seeing in the world.
As a company that generally prioritises working with and uplifting early career artists it is deeply necessary that we create fairness within and without our company.
We have built a culture with very high standards for respect, professionalism and fairness. This is reflected in our hiring practices, our code of ethics, our contracts and our wage and bonus policy.
We are often an artist's first real experience within the professional sector and hope to set an example that artists will take with them moving forward into the industry.
Our Values
Development and Transparency
As a company we are committed to sustainably developing theatre works, a creative community and ourselves.
As a new company we want to embed an ethos of learning from mistakes, feedback and market research to become the most effective we can be. When we do not meet our high standards we let our audience and partners know and work to be better.
Curiosity
We prioritise research, investigation and curiosity within our work.
We are always looking out for new ways to create performance experiences and speak to audiences in new and interesting ways.
Collaboration and community
We can only grow if we grow together.
To truly create a sustainable ecosystem of artists, theatre shows and audiences we must collaborate within every aspect of our work. We are working to build Scotland's largest on and offline creative community of artists connecting, developing one another, supporting each other through the good and bad times of this tumultuous industry.
Access
A fairer theatre for everyone.
We strive for accessibility within Gateway in every sense of the word.
It is central to our work that everyone has access to our opportunities and work.
Gateway theatre pushes for better access for all disabilities within the theatre sector and wider society to achieve a fairer theatre. This stance is reflected through our artistic work and with our internal company policies.
Gateway is also focused on widening access to high quality and affordable theatre for audiences that are not traditionally catered to within the industry.
